We slipped out at 4.00am and had a super run right through to Wagga, after stopping at Yass for breakfast. Around 5 hours had the horses off the truck and into some nice safe yards provided by Graham and Dave White.

I must admit I feared the worst when we left for the track and it was blistering, around the 42 degree mark with the wind blasting and whipping up dust all over the complex.

The Stewards sent the contestants from the first race back to their stalls while parading before the first as the showgrounds was blanketed with thick dust.

Conditions improved as the murky sky kept out the full strength of the Sun and the temperature dropped to 40.6, but the breeze, while hot, was drying and with plenty of large buckets of ice cooled water available for horses to be sponged down, my horses handled it with ease.

First out to compete was my quality 3yo, Coast Guard. He bolted in as expected but looked to me to be better suited on a bigger track soon.

However with the higher prizemoney on Treuer night, Saturday 5th December he will join Franco Nester and BG3 to do battle at their local track, where the latter have a very good record.

Nester`s feet were causing him a little distress it seemed in running but he rallied as he does and grabbed the gallant Holy Camp Boy to win easily in the end. He will head to the beach as well as track work in his lead up to the Treuer.

BG3 should have made it 3 for the day but suffered interference at the 600m and broke and lost his good position.( Driver suspended, should have been 6 weeks, but the local got 7 days). Being 4 wide without cover when the leader ran home on 28.9 made the job impossible for the little bloke, but he never stopped trying in the run to grab 3rd.

We stopped the night at Wagga before again leaving early on Sat for the drive home. All horses have recovered completely from their efforts and Nester`s feet are back to normal.

All three will make their presence felt Sat night, December 5th!!!

Stop Press Nester will not race now in Treuer, in paddock for 3 weeks.

Charlie Bubbles bolts in on debut

http://martyherbert.com:80//Default.aspx?pg=1d8ad0e0-fd51-4d7c-8636-1624d2e56663&detail=0dcfb031-a5e9-4bde-86cb-9edc5fbc799f#5742a1b0-17d9-4dae-ba83-a9a5d43f48b6

Bargain basement pacer Charlie Bubbles looked the goods when debuting for Hunter Valley trainer/driver Micheal Formosa.

Buying this bloke unseen over the phone off one phone call is a bridge too far for some, but Micheal is made of sturner stuff and took the plunge. The result; he`s worth 3 times what he cost now.

The big gelded son of Elsu surged straight to the front for Formosa and won with something in hand.

Orders now being taken for my next visit in a week or two. Put your hand up and I might tumble on a nice buy as our dollar is very good against the Kiwi now.

Franco Nester visits Wagga

http://martyherbert.com:80//Default.aspx?pg=1d8ad0e0-fd51-4d7c-8636-1624d2e56663&detail=1efcabf3-faed-46f0-a559-80084d5239d8#5742a1b0-17d9-4dae-ba83-a9a5d43f48b6

Franco Nester breaks track record!

http://martyherbert.com:80//Default.aspx?pg=1d8ad0e0-fd51-4d7c-8636-1624d2e56663&detail=3685ff94-8952-4bb1-95b5-8540ddd2d748#5742a1b0-17d9-4dae-ba83-a9a5d43f48b6

The Art Gallery

http://martyherbert.com:80//Default.aspx?pg=1d8ad0e0-fd51-4d7c-8636-1624d2e56663&detail=cddabd09-3a3b-4e05-ac30-066006e0a681#5742a1b0-17d9-4dae-ba83-a9a5d43f48b6

Artsplace 3yo The Art Gallery looks a picture as he he prepares for his first start this season.
PS Another win for Franco Emerger 22/9/09 in 1.57 at Albion Park....

I dont think you can do any wrong buying this bloke at 10k but don`t dilly dally, we might change our mind and keep him or I might send him to New York for the big money now on offer at Yonkers and surrounding tracks.
